Project Description
Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a medieval village on the side of a hill, protected by the ruins of the pope’s castle above. From there, you have an outstanding view in all directions – mostly of vineyards, of course.
Above the view, Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a worldwide famous Appelation located in the Southern Rhône wine region. The winemakers produce a powerful, tannic and earthy red wine and a low quantity of white wine. The producers have historically been known to be fiercely protective of their vineyard properties, so it is a real experience for them to host you.
With your private English speaking guide, you will be immersed in the famous history and traditions of generations of winemakers guarding their lands and secret recipes for centuries. You will taste wines recognized as some of the best around the world and learn more about your own palate. Lunch will be at a personally selected top-rated local restaurant. Your guide will assist you in the menu translation and wine selection and drive you around during the entire day so you feel free and safe to taste wines.
If you are Rosé lovers, please let us know so we can plan a special detour in Tavel (n°1 in France for Rosé) located right across the Rhône River from Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Tavel is reputed to have been a favorite wine of kings Philippe le Bel and Louis XIV, the Popes of Avignon, the writers Honoré de Balzac and Ernest Hemingway, and is one of the few rosé wines that can benefit from aging thanks to its tannins.
