throughout the semester. They are fun, educational, and all in English.

French Wine Tasting

This is the BEST activity to do upon arrival in Aix! Our goal is to demystify the often intimidating world of wine in a fun and relaxed atmosphere where questions are encouraged. Join us in the charming cave of “Pasta Cosy” restaurant for a tasting and discussion of 5 high-end French wines including whites, rosés, and reds. There will be tasty tapas and dessert to enjoy, as well. You’ll learn how to buy wine in the shops, how to order wine in restaurants, hear some stories about local the French wine makers, and much more!

Cheese & Wine Night
Date: Tuesday ~ October 4, 2011
Time: 7:30pm - 10:00pm
Cost: 25 euros per person
In addition to having the best wine in the world, France is well-known for its cheese. This tasting consists of 5 different French cheeses and 5 French wines. Fresh bread, seasonal fruit, and a selection of sliced deli meats will be served, so do NOT have dinner beforehand as this pairing won’t leave you hungry.
WineInProvence’s Cheese & Wine Pairing combines two of France’s most famous exports in a unique way. Pairing cheese and wine is an art. In this class learn how to find the right balance of flavors between the different cheeses and wines.
Hilary and Brian have been developing relationships with local cheese makers for the past three years, uncovering the mystery behind this quintessential French food. Learn fun facts about the cheese making process, the history of cheese, France’s unique cheese classification system, and some of the most bizarre stories about this French culinary tradition.

“Bottle Your Own Wine” Night
Date: Tuesday ~ October 11, 2011
Time: 7:30pm - 10:00pm
Cost: 20 euros per person
We aren’t kidding! You will literally fill, cork, and decorate your own bottles of French wine to take home with you at the end of the tasting. You won’t want to miss this special night. There will be some snacks provided, but we strongly suggest that you eat dinner beforehand so that you aren’t tasting on an empty stomach. Spaces are limited.
